Unlimited Mobile Service May Fall in Price Thanks to T Mobile

Posted by Kay on 4 February 2012

T MobileT-Mobile, one of the two mobile phone companies comprising the Everything Everywhere network, has announced plans for a new package called The Fully Monty. As the package name suggests, the deal will include unlimited mobile access. According to T-Mobile, the package will be the least expensive such deal in the UK and will be available from the start of next month.

Industry analysts suspect that the new package will spark off a round of price-cutting in other networks as well, with consumers the ultimate beneficiaries of what could turn out to be a significant price war. In the past smaller network Three has made an art form out of pricing itself beneath the other networks, particularly when it comes to data packages. This strategy has caused Three to gain significant market share over the past few years, as has the trend toward smartphones, which has meant that more and more Brits want mobile packages that contain a data allowance.

T-Mobile's new plan may offer truly unlimited data, which is not universally true. This is because T-Mobile has decided that with The Full Monty, consumers will be allowed to ‘tether’ their computers and other devices to their phones, in effect turning their mobile handset into a Wi-fi hotspot. In addition, there will be no usage policy imposing a cap on data consumption with the plan.
