Under ordinary circumstances it would seem that the last thing anybody would want is flock of angry birds on their expensive smartphone, but the innovative game has been one of the top sellers in the handset gaming world for more than a year at this point. Angry Birds: Star Wars, a version of the game that combines elements from the popular film franchise with birds still trying to get their revenge on the pigs taking over their nests, has long been available on the Android and Windows Phone 8 platforms.
Now, however, those with older phones – those running Windows Phone 7 – can also get in on the fun. There was a one-month delay between the release of Angry Birds: Star Wars for other platforms and its release on Windows Phone 7. This is not much time to wait in the greater scheme of things, but for Angry Birds enthusiasts with older mobile phones, it may have seemed an eternity.
In the Star Wars iteration of the game, the Angry Birds take on the personas of various characters from the popular science fiction saga, posing, for example, as Luke Skywalker. The game features 100 levels taking place in familiar Star Wars locations such as Luke’s home planet, the desert world of Tatooine. Early reports have indicated that the Star Wars edition of Angry Birds is every bit as addictive as previous games in the franchise have been.
