German mobile phone enthusiasts are now able to purchase both tablets and smartphones equipped with LTE. The devices, more advanced than most seen in the UK at the current time, are available in Germany from Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom. Vodafone, in fact, has already begun selling the HTC Velocity 4G smartphone in Germany and will soon begin offering a second LTE phone: the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE.

With the Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona this week, a number of mobile phone manufacturers are releasing new information about some of their latest products. The HTC One X is a new take on the mobile smartphone, boasting dimensions that will please some and disgruntle others. With a 4.7-inch screen, the handset is approaching the size of a miniature tablet computer.

No other mobile phone manufacturer makes more Android-based handsets than HTC, based in Taiwan. HTC now stands accused of infringing the patents owned by IPCom, a German firm. The patent in question, which involves base stations that help phones retain service even as users travel across the landscape, had been invalidated by a U.S. court during 2010. Now, that decision itself has been invalidated.

The Ville, a much-anticipated mobile phone from HTC, is scheduled to be a key player at the Mobile World Congress to be held later this year. No official word has been announced yet but the T-Mobile network in the United States is rumoured to be planning to carry the model, which has industry experts here wondering if it will also be available on Everything Everywhere, the company that resulted from the combination of Orange and T-Mobile UK

According to the HTC UK Facebook page, the newest version of the mobile phone operating system known as Android will be available on new HTC smartphones beginning as soon as early 2012. The new version is being referred to as ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’.
